Legacy Jazz Fest @ Braswell

Greetings 2026 Braswell Legacy Jazz Festival Participating Directors and Students,
We would like to warmly and officially welcome you as a performing ensemble at the return of the Legacy Jazz Festival. Braswell students, parent volunteers and staff are greatly looking forward and excited to host all of you on Wednesday April 29th! It is going to be a great day of jazz
performances, student camaraderie and jam sessions, and a special interactive Q&A clinic presentation by Summer Camargo from the SNL Band.
Be sure to follow us on Social Media on Instagram at @braswelllegacyjazzfestival. We would like to tag you in all of our coverage leading up to the festival, as well as on the big day!
All big band and combo daytime performances are free and open to the public--so definitely plan to fill up your audience with friends and family and invite them out. Also plan to enjoy and support the performances by the other participating big bands and combos. In addition, there will be concessions for purchase served throughout the day.
The Evening Celebration Party will be just that: A PARTY! This will be 6:30 PM-8:15 PM. It is a ticketed event for guests ($10/guest), but all directors and participating ensembles at the Legacy Jazz Festival will receive a wristband to attend, included in your festival fee. There will be
concessions available for purchase in an outdoor and summer festival style final show-"jazz on the porch" and "jazz in the courtyard!" We are excited to conclude the festival with special guests Summer Camargo, Bruce Bohnstengel, and Dr. Aric Schneller performing with the Braswell
Legacy One Jazz Orchestra and TCU Jazz Ensemble I-Allen Cordingley, director. Before the final tune of the Evening Celebration Party, we will have an Awards Ceremony, announcing the top placements of the day in the following categories: 4A, 5A Varsity, 6A Non Varsity and 6A Varsity, as
well as the Top 5 Outstanding Musicians/Soloists of the day.
The top 2 winning combos of the festival will perform one tune each, and we will have our Top 5 Outstanding Musicians/Soloists of the day sit in with TCU and our guest artists to trade on a blues on the final tune.
